White Road residents press Mineola trustees for alternate-side parking; board asks for more signatures

"It's nearly impossible to be able to ... pull out of your driveway without touching the other cars," resident Stacy Lee said, describing packed snow and cars parked on both sides of the narrow street. Eric Spora and Gary Lee said school drop-off and pickup exacerbate the problem and proposed a three-hour limit on school days to reduce congestion while leaving summer parking unchanged.
Board members and Mr. Rivera reviewed the petition returns and said the village's standard (a simple majority of properties on the block) requires the petitioners to obtain 11 of 20 resident signatures. Mr. Rivera said one mailing may have been lost and encouraged petitioners to continue collecting signatures; the board explicitly took no action on the request at the meeting.
Trustee Clark noted the village has handled similar petitions by asking residents to secure a majority before a regulatory change is implemented, and cautioned petitioners that regulations can move parking pressure to adjacent streets. The board asked residents to work with Mr. Rivera and return once they have the required support.
No formal traffic or sightline study was presented at the meeting; the matter remains a resident-initiated request pending the required petition threshold and any staff review the board may order.
