Wixom — The council authorized a $15,162 purchase of an "Xark Laser Z" mower from Weine Guard Supply of Farmington Hills, Michigan, to be paid from the mowing equipment account (401-441-98392).
Public-works staff recommended the mower as a replacement for the city's older Hustler fleet, saying the newer model has more durable electronics and lower projected maintenance over a roughly 10-year lifespan. "The added cost of buying this Xmark will be made up over the next 10 years of its anticipated lifespan here at the DPW," staff said during the meeting.
Council approved the recommendation by voice vote. Staff said Weine Guard offers maintenance support, which influenced the recommendation.
