Council accepts TIF management report and approves several downtown events and routine items

The Danville Town Council accepted the redevelopment commission—s TIF management report for 2025 and approved a set of routine permits and financial items during its regular forum.
Heidi Amsspa, principal at Baker Tilly, presented the TIF management report (covering activity in 2025) and explained the town has two outstanding TIF allocation areas created in August 2019: the downtown/Main allocation area and the East Main Corridor allocation area. She said the downtown area recorded a little over $15,000 in revenue for 2025 with no expenditures, while the East/Main area collected roughly $670,000 and expended about $320,000 in 2025. The latter included a transfer of approximately $300,000 to the town for a wastewater extension project.
With no substantive questions from council, Mr. Shadow moved and Mr. Herby seconded acceptance of the informational report and the council voted to accept it.
The council also approved special-event and road closure requests for the Destination Danville festival on June 6 and a Last Day of School community event on May 21, asking staff to confirm whether the Destination Danville listing is a fundraiser and, if so, which charities will benefit. Councilors approved both events as presented but directed staff to follow up on the fundraising designation.
Other routine items approved included: minutes from the March 18 meeting, the claim docket, an account closure and transfer of $5,859.82 to the wastewater fund, and several personnel introductions and a badge-pinning for two new firefighters. Several motions were recorded as carried in the minutes.
