Madison — The board's facilities update highlighted ongoing work at Polson and prompted members to request a fuller building-committee briefing at a future meeting.
Ben Whitaker, the district's director of construction and planning, gave a slide-based presentation describing summer HVAC work, auditorium and gym improvements and electrical upgrades at Polson. Board members praised the presentation as thorough and encouraged colleagues and the public to view the slides online.
Members asked for a comprehensive first-year report on the recently completed school, including what went as planned, where money was saved or spent, outstanding warranty issues such as roof repairs, and the status of solar-panel decisions. One trustee said the geothermal system has smoothed month-to-month electricity usage and suggested the district highlight that benefit publicly to reduce misinformation.
Board members suggested inviting Colliers representatives Adam and Graham and relevant facilities staff to a future meeting to walk through design decisions, remaining project actions and financial outcomes.
Next steps: staff will schedule a building-committee presentation that includes Colliers representatives and provide detailed metrics on costs, remaining decisions and energy-system performance.
