The City Council adopted a resolution on Nov. 18 appointing Nick Shazik as Alameda’s trustee to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District Board. After the vote, City Clerk Laura Weisinger administered the oath of office and asked Mr. Shazik to introduce himself to the council and audience.
Shazik said he is a six‑year Alameda resident, currently on active duty as a U.S. Marine officer assigned to the Defense Innovation Unit in Mountain View, and that he looks forward to representing Alameda on the countywide board, which addresses mosquito‑borne disease prevention and control.
The appointment was moved, seconded and adopted unanimously; staff said the city will receive periodic reports from the district in the coming year.
