The Coffee County Purchasing Committee approved the sale of an approximately 8-acre parcel in the Interstate Industrial Park to RNR Holdings after a presentation and recommendation from the county’s Industrial Board.
Annie Major, representing the Industrial Board, told the committee that RNR Holdings purchased adjacent property in 2022 or 2023 and has since gained sewer access. Major said RNR is not planning to build on the parcel and "they literally are just buying it to put an entryway from Volunteer Court or Volunteer Parkway onto their property." She described the parcel as "primarily probably wetland" and said the buyer would be responsible for environmental compliance.
Major said the Industrial Board initially set county land price at $30,000 per acre but, because RNR does not intend to build on the tract, the board recommended reducing the price to $20,000 per acre. She said the company has appeared before the Industrial Board twice and that the recommendation reflects the board’s procedures.
A committee member moved to approve the sale as recommended; Mr. Anderson seconded. The chair called the question and the committee approved the sale by voice vote. The transcript records only a voice vote; no roll-call tally or individual votes were recorded.
According to the presentation, the parcel is about 8 acres (depending on final parceling, approximately 8.1 to 8.2 acres). The buyer’s stated purpose is to create an access roadway from Volunteer Court/Parkway to the company’s property. Major noted regulatory approvals would determine what portions of the parcel could be used, given likely wetlands on much of the land.
The committee did not set a future meeting date; the chair said the committee meets on an as-needed basis and adjourned the meeting after a motion and second.
