Superintendent highlights East Alexander visit and testing schedule; board moves to closed session

Superintendent Dr. Bill Griffin used his report to highlight a visit by State Superintendent Mo Green to East Alexander Middle School and to praise instructional work tied to a Golden Leaf grant. He thanked principals, teachers and staff for their efforts and acknowledged Teacher Appreciation Week.

Griffin reminded the board that end-of-grade (EOG) tests begin the next day for elementary and middle schools, followed later by end-of-course (EOC) exams at the high school, and reviewed upcoming end-of-year dates including early college and district graduations. "I couldn't be more pleased with the things that are taking place within our school system," Griffin said, applauding staff and students.

Following the superintendent's report and board comments about the visit, a motion was made by Rob and seconded by Anthony Mlan to close open session and enter closed (executive) session; the chair called for voices in favor and the motion passed.

The board did not disclose the subject of the closed session in the public transcript.
