Program staff said the PIT count would run in January and urged volunteers to register. In the staff presentation, Gracia said the PIT was scheduled for Jan. 22, 2026, from about 5 a.m. to 11 a.m., and provided a registration link and a staff contact, Camille Rodriguez. Earlier in the meeting a board member referenced Jan. 29 for the count; staff later provided the Jan. 22 date in the formal staff update. The board discussed logistics and whether volunteers could split shifts; staff said teams are assigned coverage areas and volunteers are asked to complete their assigned route so teams can finish by the posted end time.
Staff also reported that, if City Council approves a shelter agreement, the winter warming shelter would open Dec. 3, and council would consider an additional CDBG funding request for a day-center relocation project. Gracia said the Village of Love emergency-support-of-housing (ESH) contract is proposed for extension through February 2026. Staff said they will attach flyers and sign-up QR codes to the meeting minutes and asked board members to share volunteer opportunities.
Board members raised practical questions about volunteer shift lengths and coverage maps; staff advised that while some teams finish earlier, volunteers should expect to cover their full assigned route when possible.
Next steps: staff will carry the CDBG items, the ESH contract amendment and the winter shelter item to City Council; volunteers may register through the provided PIT sign-up link.
