Greene County commissioners approve routine resolutions, establish fund and accept demolition bid

At the April 30 meeting the Greene County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a set of routine resolutions including vouchers, travel/training, appropriations transfers, proclamations for Correctional Officers and Nurses Weeks, support for naming the Xenia Post Office, establishment of Fund 2890-0123 for records and archives grants, several grant and surplus-property actions, authorization to sign an OEPA grant, acceptance of a demolition bid for the South WTP at $281,017, and authorization to advertise HVAC improvements for Beavercreek WRRF.
The Greene County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously April 30 to approve a slate of routine resolutions and two procurement actions.
Commissioner Sarah J. Mays moved and Commissioner Richard D. Gould seconded a series of resolutions that carried on roll call votes by Commissioners Tom Koogler, Mays and Gould. Actions included approval of vouchers (Resolution 26-4-30-1), travel and training expenses (26-4-30-2), transfers of appropriations (26-4-30-3), and a proclamation recognizing National Correctional Officers Week (May 3–9, 2026) and National Nurses Week (May 6–12, 2026) (26-4-30-4).
The board also approved a letter of support to designate the Xenia Post Office as the "Gilman 'Gil' Whitney Post Office Building" (26-4-30-5). It authorized the County Auditor to establish a new non-interest-bearing fund (Fund 2890-0123) for Records & Archives Misc Grants related to America-250 and future grants (26-4-30-6) and added several interest-bearing grant funds to the allocation list (26-4-30-7).
Other administrative actions included declaring three Dell computers and a Lathem Stamp at the County Engineer’s Office as surplus and sending them to a certified recycler (26-4-30-8), and authorizing the Environmental Services Manager to sign the OEPA 2026 Community & Litter Grant Agreement for scrap tire management (26-4-30-9).
On procurement matters, the board accepted the bid of Charles F. Jergens Construction Inc. for the 2506WA demolition of the South WTP in the amount of $281,017 (Resolution 26-4-30-10). The Sanitary Engineering Department recommended acceptance; the engineer’s estimate had been $670,000. The board also approved advertising for bids on the 2503SA Beavercreek WRRF & Lab HVAC Improvements project (engineer’s estimate $1,300,000) with bids to be opened June 2, 2026 at 11 a.m. at 35 Greene Street, Xenia (26-4-30-11).
