The Rhinebeck Town Board presented the town’s annual historic-preservation awards on May 11, recognizing the Quickman (Quinton) House and the Palentine (Palatine) Farmstead for “extraordinary achievements in restoration, maintenance and stewardship,” according to the resolution adopted by the board (Resolution 2026-147).
Warren, speaking for the Historic and Archaeological Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC), summarized the long preservation histories of the properties, noting restorations dating to the 1970s and architectural elements that trace back to the 18th century. Town historian Fitzgerald and Richard Gasper joined HPAC and board members in presenting certificates.
Recipients and volunteers described the decades-long work to document and preserve both sites, and the Palentine Farmstead Committee announced an open house for May 23 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.; the committee referenced rhymepreservation.org for details.
Board members thanked HPAC and volunteers and said the awards help raise awareness of local historic resources and guide future preservation planning and zoning updates.
What happens next: HPAC will continue work on the town’s historic inventory and a separate town-funded survey (approved elsewhere on the agenda) will establish integrity baselines to help with permitting and local-law updates.
