The West Warwick Town Council on May 12 voted to award a contract to Transpar Group of Charleston, South Carolina, for the town’s portion of a Rhode Island Department of Education bus-route efficiency and redistricting analysis.
Karen explained the statewide procurement will be applied to participating districts and that West Warwick’s portion — Transpar’s contract — is for $39,650. She said the funding source will be loan proceeds or anticipated bond proceeds and that the town expects reimbursement of roughly 68.3% through the state process.
The service is intended to complement the town’s redistricting work for the school building project by analyzing bus routes to avoid adding buses and to seek more efficient routing once new schools come online. Council approved the resolution to award the contract; the vote was recorded in the meeting as carried.
