Converting the system to digital repeaters (quoted roughly $5,000 per repeater plus labor) could improve coverage in outlying areas. The administration said they will seek multiple quotes for bus radios and for removing and salvaging cameras from buses previously sold to Fullington (quotes pending for camera removal and reinstallation).
The board asked staff to provide definitive vendor quotes, projected insurance and maintenance costs, and financing scenarios so members can evaluate a purchase versus continued contracted transportation. Administration said it will return with not-to-exceed figures and financing options at a future board meeting.
