Facility committee members told the board they project a roughly $100,000 shortfall on the Warrior Stadium turf fundraising campaign and proposed selling advertising panels and installing a second scoreboard to recoup the gap.
Assistant Superintendent Steve explained the fundraising history and said two of four existing advertising panels on the main scoreboard are owned by businesses that are no longer operating. The committee proposed reselling those spaces and installing a second scoreboard at the west end (estimated cost around $75,000), with advertising revenues and proceeds held in Fund 21 (gifts and donations). "No taxpayer funds will be used for the scoreboard purchase," Steve said.
Board members asked about equity for other sports and whether other scoreboards in the district are functioning; staff said they would check inventory and discuss broader scoreboard needs in the facilities committee in June. The board moved and approved the scoreboard plan and the fundraising approach.
Outcome: scoreboard purchase will be funded through Fund 21 advertising revenue and donations; staff to return with further information on other scoreboard conditions and an updated turf‑replacement schedule.
