Hope Mills approves rezoning for 0.6 acres at Legion Road to R7.5

The Hope Mills Board of Commissioners voted March 2 to rezone a roughly 0.6acre undeveloped parcel at the southwest corner of Brower Trail and Legion Road from R15 to R7.5 residential district.
Planning staff (Xavier) presented the petition (ZNG-013-25), explaining the site has access to water and sewer and that the Southwest Cumberland Land Use Plan calls for low-density residential use. Xavier said the request "falls within the current guidelines" of the land-use plan and that the requested district would complement surrounding residential properties.
The board opened the public hearing; no one spoke for or against the rezoning. A motion to approve the rezoning was moved and seconded; the board voted in favor and the motion carried.
The approval authorizes the property owner to develop under R7.5 standards and staff will process the zoning map amendment consistent with the board's action.
