The Gilroy Arts & Culture Commission selected Commissioner Gupta as its new vice chair at the meeting following a nomination and voice vote.
Chair Shahid O'Brien nominated Commissioner Gupta to fill the vacancy left by the recent resignation of Commissioner Borden. "I move that we make the commissioner Gupta's vice chair of the last budget commission," O'Brien said. Another commissioner seconded the motion. When the chair called for the vote, commissioners responded in the affirmative and the chair announced the motion passed.
Staff had earlier explained there are no term limits preventing a previously seated vice chair from serving again, and that the commission may elect any member to fill the vacancy. The commission congratulated Commissioner Gupta and closed the item without further debate.
Next steps: The commission will proceed with its agenda and incorporate the vice chair role into upcoming subcommittee and presentation assignments.
