Animal shelter reports costs exceed $13,000 after Virginia Avenue seizure of 23 animals

"The cost of care for these 23 animals has now exceeded $13,000, and the department hopes to recover some of these expenses," Parker said. A related court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 9, pending no further postponement.
Shelter staff did not provide a breakdown of the $13,000 figure at the meeting or state how much the county might be able to recover through restitution or civil action.
