Rick Sauley of RLS Insurance Group presented Jefferson County’s 2026 insurance renewals during the Feb. 5 board meeting, reporting that the Accident & Sickness premium for the sheriff’s reserve officers came in at $129 for the year and that the county’s workers’ compensation policy totaled $126,813, a decrease from the prior year.
Commissioner David Bramer moved to accept both the Accident & Sickness renewal and the workers’ compensation renewal; Commissioner Ron Lee seconded the motion and it passed 3–0. No effective dates beyond the 2026 coverage year were provided at the meeting.
The renewals affect the Sheriff’s Department reserve officers and county employee coverage; county officials did not provide additional detail on whether any portion of the workers’ compensation cost is being passed to departments or will require supplemental budget action.
