At the April 13 meeting the Board approved multiple personnel and labor items intended to address staffing needs and alignment with contract terms.
The Board approved hiring Sherrie Tallant, a 15-year bus driver with L'Anse Creuse experience, as a summer shuttle driver at the $19.23 CDL rate pending a drug-screening requirement.
A subcommittee reviewed pay for part-time trades inspectors and recommended increasing the hourly rate from $37.50 to $41.00 to improve recruitment and retention. Trustees approved the increase effective April 14, 2026; the minutes estimate the average inspector workload at about eight hours per week each and an incremental weekly cost of approximately $84 plus payroll taxes.
The Supervisor introduced a tentative agreement with IAFF 1737 to revise the Fire Marshal’s working hours and holiday schedule to align with Supervisory and General employees. The Board approved the tentative agreement.
Why it matters: officials said the changes will help maintain inspection scheduling reliability, keep the summer shuttle program staffed, and align public-safety schedule expectations under the collective-bargaining framework.
All motions carried at the meeting.
