Marysville council approves consent agenda and routine financial items; mayor accepted to SEMCOG fellowship

The Marysville City Council unanimously approved routine business March 23, including approval of the March 9 council minutes, check disbursements for March 6 and March 13 and payroll for March 27 and April 10.
The consent agenda was moved by Council Member Watson and supported by Mayor Pro Tem Winston. Council Member Easter moved to approve check disbursements (seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Winston), and Mayor Pro Tem Winston moved the payroll approval (seconded by Council Member Shirkey). Roll-call votes recorded unanimous yes votes for each motion.
During communications, City Manager Quentin Bishop announced that Mayor Hayman had been accepted into a Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) executive fellowship hosted in part by Harvard University and running roughly three-and-a-half weeks beginning in June. Bishop characterized the acceptance as an honor for the city and thanked the mayor.
In public comment, Jim Vokes, giving his name and address, said the VFW commander had asked about plans for a 250th anniversary event in July and that he had not heard back from the mayor; the clerk and staff said the matter would be followed up. Council also discussed sending a reminder to golf-cart license holders about rules and enforcement ahead of warm weather.
The meeting concluded with brief announcements and adjournment.
