The Marysville City Council on May 11 voted unanimously to approve Traffic Control Order 01-26, establishing a no-parking zone on both sides of Will Street and Hoffman Street adjacent to the U.S. Border Patrol facility.
City Manager Quentin Bishop explained the restriction is intended to ensure the safe movement of emergency vehicles and to address instances of people parking near the facility and following agents or vehicles. Bishop said he observed vehicles parked in the area and raised the issue at a county emergency-management meeting; after legal review the city prepared the enforceable order.
The order designates the Marysville Police Department as the enforcing agency and directs installation of no-parking signage at necessary locations. Bishop said the order is intended as a practical safety measure rather than a response to a specific local incident. Council members supported the precaution and the order took effect immediately upon approval.
