The Reynoldsburg plan zoning board approved a certificate of appropriateness for a single exterior door replacement at a Lancaster Avenue property after city staff said the proposed change met Old Reynoldsburg design guidelines and a pastor told the board the door posed safety and pest concerns.
A city staff member presented application 2026-0049, explaining the request was for "the replacement of 1 existing exterior door" with a single white steel door and that staff recommended approval under the Old Reynoldsburg district design guidelines and cited review criteria in the municipal code. The staff presentation included aerial and street-view images and interior photos of the existing door.
The applicant, Clement Fox, identified himself as "pastor of the New Antioch Bible Fellowship" and told the board the congregation sought the replacement because of safety issues and to address pests. "We had someone sleeping in the stairs," Fox said, and he showed photos that, he said, "you can actually see the sunlight coming in at the bottom of the door," which he said allowed pests access. Fox added the change was intended to improve the building's appearance for the community.
The chair moved to approve the application as submitted; a second was offered and a roll-call vote followed. Staff recorded votes of "yes" from Ward, Connolly, Tuammo, Barnhart, Braske/Brusk (name spelling varies in the transcript), and First. The motion passed unanimously.
The application materials and staff report cited Old Reynoldsburg design guidelines and review criteria in the municipal code (sections noted in the transcript). The transcript lists the application on the agenda as for 1456 Lancaster Avenue but staff's prepared materials state the address as 1415 Lancaster Avenue; the record contains both numbers and does not resolve the discrepancy.
The board took no further action on the item; the meeting continued to the next agenda item.
