The Reynoldsburg Planning and Zoning Board approved a conditional-use permit Thursday for a child daycare center at 8295 Taylor Road Southwest.
Staff presented application 20255598 for the 0.69-acre parcel at 8295 Taylor Road SW and recommended approval after finding the proposal met applicable development and child-care standards; the applicant is Shauna Davis, representing Early Start Learning Academy LLC. Staff said the applicant plans to operate Monday through Friday, 6 a.m.–6 p.m., with eight employees and capacity for about 70 children, and reported 18 on-site parking spaces (10 visitor, 8 staff).
The approval followed the applicant’s brief statement and board discussion. Shauna Davis told the board she was “excited about being part of Reynoldsburg’s community and the opportunity to have children and families served with high quality care in that location.” The chair moved to approve the conditional use with staff’s recommended conditions; the motion was seconded and carried by roll-call vote. Staff recorded the members present as voting in the affirmative.
Staff emphasized that parking must meet the city’s child-daycare parking standard (one space per employee on the largest shift plus 10 visitor spaces), and the board’s approval incorporated those conditions as described in the staff report. Staff also noted the tenant space was previously used as a daycare but had lost legal nonconforming status; the application restores the conditional use under current zoning.
The board’s action implements the staff report’s recommended conditions; no amendments or special exceptions were recorded in the hearing. The applicant had no objections to the stated staff conditions and may proceed with the licensing steps required by state and local authorities.
The board moved on to additional agenda items after the vote.
