Commissioner Stefflin described the control panel as “the brains behind the whole aeration system,” saying it has exceeded its life expectancy and displays warning lights; he moved to approve purchase of the panel for $66,750 from Municipal Equipment. He also moved to approve a replacement Ayrson blower for $21,688.36 from Ayrson USA Corporation, telling the council the blower “blows air” but is a large and necessary component. Both purchases were described as budgeted items and were approved on roll call.
Commissioner Stefflin noted the city previously refabricated an aeration-arm assembly at a substantial saving ($117,000 vs. $590,000 new) and emphasized the importance of replacing aging control components before failure.
City staff will schedule procurement and installation and provide invoices and installation reports for council records.
