Reynoldsburg City Council on Jan. 12 interviewed five applicants to fill the Ward 3 vacancy created when the previous seatholder resigned in December, then nominated and unanimously appointed Tania Chambers.
President Pakro outlined the interview process and invited each applicant to give a brief presentation. Chambers told the council she has lived in Reynoldsburg 13 years, has served on the Parks & Rec board, coached youth sports, and worked on the city schools levy committee. She described experience managing workforce investments and said as a councilmember she would prioritize street and sidewalk repairs and be accessible to residents.
Councilmembers asked each candidate similar questions about the top strengths and challenges of Ward 3, availability to serve and how they would engage residents. Other applicants who spoke included Joseph Ergman (public administration), Deepika Khatri (mayor’s office experience and youth mentorship), Madhav Pokrell (youth engagement nonprofit founder) and Michael Stiefeld (teacher focused on affordability and utilities).
Councilmember Towns nominated Chambers; no second was required. Clerk called the roll and the council recorded a unanimous 7–0 vote in favor of Chambers’s appointment. President Pakro invited Chambers to the podium to be sworn in by Mayor Begney.
Councilmembers thanked all applicants for their willingness to serve and encouraged continued civic engagement among applicants who were not selected.
Chambers indicated she would focus on constituent communication and local infrastructure concerns if appointed.
