Grayson Regional Library asks county for $10,000 increase amid staffing pressure

Amy Adams, director of Grayson Regional Library, urged the Grayson County Board of Supervisors during the March 12 budget public hearing to increase the county’s operating support by $10,000 to help maintain staff levels.
Adams said the library has not received an increase from Grayson County since 2023 and that state funds the library receives are restricted and "not allowed to be used for payroll." She told the board the library reworked its budget but still needs additional local funding to avoid cutting hours or services.
"Because of minimum wage increases and cost‑of‑living increases, we're having a hard time maintaining our staff at the level that we would like without cutting hours or cutting services," Adams said. She asked the board to consider a $10,000 boost and said the library can adjust its internal budget to make up the remainder.
The board heard no other registered speakers on the budget at the public hearing; staff and supervisors will consider requests in upcoming budget discussions and the county’s formal appropriation process.
