Commission approves final plat for Taylor Commercial Subdivision; notes private access easement and sidewalk plan

Carter noted that Note A on the plat designates a private access easement for ingress and egress to Lots 2 and 3, which is to be maintained by the owners and is not a public road. She also stated that Note B indicates all plat areas lie within Zone X, an area outside the 100-year floodplain.
Curt Shonk of Engineering explained several transportation and pedestrian elements: Becker Way will be a public road connecting Memorial Drive to North Columbus Street; a variance allows no sidewalks on Memorial Drive, sidewalks will be constructed on Becker Way, and sidewalks on Columbus Street and Ety Road will be built as the lots develop. Shonk also said there will be no traffic signal on Becker Way, that turn lanes will be installed on Columbus Street and a left-turn in lane onto Becker Way from Memorial Drive will be provided, and that median barriers and reflectors will discourage left-turns out onto Memorial Drive.
Planning Commission member Jan Coccia moved to approve the final plat; Bob Lovell seconded. The commission voted unanimously to approve the final plat. Service Safety Director Carrie Woody then called for a motion to adjourn; Sherry Orlando moved, Jan Coccia seconded, and the commission adjourned at 9:40 a.m.
