The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted April 7 to hire two county employees, approving Darius Deshong as a Per Diem Deputy Coroner and Vonda Shatzer as a part‑time Victim Services Coordinator in the District Attorney’s Office.
Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to hire Deshong as a Per Diem Deputy Coroner, effective immediately; the motion carried with all commissioners voting in favor. Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to hire Shatzer for the 24‑hour‑per‑week victim services position, conditioned on continued grant funding and pending required clearances; that motion also carried unanimously.
The board held a brief Salary Board meeting to set pay for the new hires; separate Salary Board minutes are on file, the chief clerk said. Commissioners discussed the hires with HR Administrator Mary Huston earlier in the meeting before taking the motions.
The board entered two executive sessions during the meeting: an 8:00 a.m. personnel session related to the Prothonotary's Office and a 9:00 a.m. legal session with Special Counsel and the County Solicitor. The meeting adjourned at 11:17 a.m.
