RTA approves FY27 work plan for City Council, elects Jen Truman as chair and adopts FY27 marketing plan

The Raleigh Transit Authority voted to recommend its FY27 work plan and annual report to City Council for placement on the June 2 consent calendar, elected Jen Truman as the authority’s FY27 chair, and approved the FY27 marketing plan.
Staff said committees reviewed goals for each subcommittee and posted the full work plan and annual report for board review; with no requested edits, a board motion recommended the documents be placed on the June 2 City Council agenda so the RTA’s FY27 program can be reported to council. Acting chair and staff confirmed staff will submit the item for the 1 p.m. council session, with an alternate date if scheduling requires.
During elections, the board noted nominations taken in April and held a voice vote to select Jen Truman as chair for FY27. The acting chair confirmed the motion passed by voice vote.
The board also approved the FY27 marketing plan, which includes six themed bus wraps (each scheduled for about two months), continued radio and WRAL video promotion, social media content and some investments in BRT content creation. Marketing staff said themes include Fourth of July (July), breast cancer awareness (September), holiday promotions, Earth Month, North Carolina mountain/sea motifs and Black History Month, and that local artists were selected through an artist call with the arts department.
Board members discussed wrap durability and vendor repairs for any damage; staff said they use a product intended to avoid paint damage and will schedule repairs if decals or wraps are damaged over time.
Staff said they will present the final bylaws language for board approval at the June meeting and will return with a lowest-performer route report as requested by the board.
