At the Feb. 17, 2026 meeting of the Lancaster Civil Service Commission, Secretary Robert C. Wolfinger reported that Fire Chief Schultz had approached him about the possibility of retaining a different company to administer Assessment Center testing and evaluate results.
Chief Schultz was on vacation and did not attend the meeting in person. Wolfinger told the commission that the Lieutenant eligibility list expires May 30, 2026, and the Firefighter/Paramedic eligibility list expires July 7, 2026. Wolfinger also reported that one of the department's lieutenants plans to retire this spring, a staffing development that increases the importance of maintaining up-to-date eligibility lists.
No formal action was recorded on the vendor question at the Feb. 17 meeting; the minutes note only that Chief Schultz raised the matter and that he was unavailable to attend. The commission's next meeting is scheduled for March 5, 2026, when staff or the fire chief could present further information or a vendor recommendation.
