Fire chief questions OAFC promotion evaluations; local vendor presents proposal to commission

Fire Chief Slade Shultz told the Civil Service Commission that he has concerns about the Ohio Association of Fire Chiefs’ current promotion-evaluation methods, saying they are not using up-to-date evaluation questions and techniques. Shultz said he has been interviewing other companies to provide promotion-evaluation services.
Rob Cloud, president of RC Fire & EMS Solutions, LLC, made a presentation to the commission about promotion-evaluation services and indicated he will submit a formal proposal to the City in the near future. No contract or procurement decision was made at the meeting.
Under old business, Shultz asked to schedule a meeting with the commission to discuss testing services and to set dates for required testing tied to upcoming expirations: Firefighter/Paramedics testing (expiration listed as 07.07.26) and Lieutenant testing (expiration listed as 05.30.26). The commission did not take a formal vote on vendor selection at this meeting.
