The committee also unanimously approved a qualifications‑based selection under Brooks Act procedures to award A&E professional services for leachate system improvements at the borough solid waste site to HDR Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $390,969. Staff said the contract covers design and construction administration work to address recurring overflow, freeze‑up and foaming issues in the existing leachate piping.
Sponsors introduced ordinance 2025‑20‑1N to rename Pioneer Park to "Alaskaland" and to appropriate funds for signage and related changes. Initial fiscal estimates in the packet listed a $50,000 figure; sponsors reported updated vendor discussions reduced the likely cost to about $18,000.
