Library to ask first selectman about lighting failures; board okays $50 for children’s mural

The Scotland Public Library’s trustees discussed ongoing outdoor lighting failures and agreed that Director Mary Geragotelis should contact the first selectman to explore replacement or updated fixtures.
During the unfinished-business portion of the Feb. 11 meeting Geragotelis described the lighting as a continuing safety concern. Trustees also reviewed aesthetics and programming items: Geragotelis showed cling-art options for the children’s-section entrance and Trustee Beth Delaney moved to authorize the director to spend up to $50 on artwork; Trustee Angela Maschka seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board heard that the Eagle Scout trail and bridge maintenance project is on hold for the winter but will resume when weather allows, and that Poet Laureate Susan Powers is taking time off this season. No formal timeline for lighting repairs or a follow-up report to the board was recorded in the minutes.
