Scotland Public Library board approves 2025–26 budget and extends Thursday hours

The Scotland Public Library Board approved its proposed 2025–26 budget and voted to extend Thursday hours at a meeting on Feb. 11, 2025.
Library Director Mary Geragotelis presented January circulation and attendance figures and told trustees that Thursday mornings — driven by story hour and the knitters’ club — show the highest use. Geragotelis said patrons "would benefit with extending the library being open till 2pm on Thursdays," and the board voted to adopt that schedule beginning April 1 after a motion from Trustee Beth Delaney and a second from Trustee Charlotte McLevy.
Geragotelis also presented the proposed 2025–26 library budget. Trustee Angela Maschka moved to accept the budget for submission to town hall; Trustee Charlotte McLevy seconded the motion and it carried with all attendees voting in favor.
Other routine business included acceptance of the January minutes and the treasurer’s report, both approved by unanimous voice vote. The board recorded that the trust account increased in January.
The board agreed to develop the March meeting agenda and adjourned at 8:07 p.m. The extension of Thursday hours takes effect April 1; the budget will be submitted to town hall for the town’s normal review and appropriation process.
