The City of Parkland Community Advisory Board announced the recipients of multiple $2,500 scholarships and urged residents to apply for the Youth Ambassador Program during its May 2026 meeting.
Staff told the board that “The Youth Ambassador Program, is currently being advertised on social media, the website, city announcements. The deadline for applications is, Thursday, May 28,” and that interviews and application reviews will be scheduled in June. Staff asked board members to help review applications and serve on interview panels, noting panels can be rearranged or combined depending on the number of applicants.
Board members praised recent scholarship interviews as competitive. The board chair said he “enjoyed that scholarship interviews” and added that the applicants were impressive, while Jeffrey Weiss, a board member, said he had scored the applications and found it “really interesting” and difficult to distinguish among strong candidates.
Staff read the list of scholarship winners and recognized local benefactors who funded awards. Most scholarships were $2,500, with one award from the Parkland Chamber of Commerce (amount not specified). Winners and sponsors announced by staff included: Ethan Klein (Kennedy Legal Team Scholarship); Alexander Friedman (Eaton Family Scholarship); Samara Murad (Mesa Taylor Family Scholarship); Ava Cipolla (Steinberg Family Scholarship); Brian Listopad (Bin Doctor Scholarship); Ella Lee (Community Advisory Board Scholarship); Sarah Morales (Community Advisory Board and Silver Miller Law Scholarship); and Maren Shank (Parkland Chamber of Commerce Scholarship).
Staff also reminded the board that next Wednesday’s city commission meeting will include the presentation of youth ambassador scholarships and the other awards. The staff representative noted the CAB’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8 and said the board will have a summer break aside from handling scholarship and youth ambassador application reviews.
