Residents press borough on procurement and ethics; assembly accepts ethics board report

Irene Elvey told the assembly that records and her public-record request show the borough did not handle procurement with Apple Core Strategies LLC properly, citing delayed documents and shifting explanations. She said that a prior statement that no further action would be taken related to a former manager’s departure did not resolve concerns about the procurement process itself. Tanya Hanson also said letters she submitted were omitted from the assembly packet while contrary letters were included, and she urged consistent standards for public input and clear answers to financial questions.
The assembly recessed into two executive sessions (candidate review with Pearson Consulting and a session for the ethics board report). After reconvening the assembly voted to accept the ethics board’s report and recommendations, and members directed staff to post the report publicly and review borough code (including code 2-15-090) with regard to the ethics board and potential compensation. The assembly recorded no action taken during the executive sessions.
No formal findings or criminal allegations were recorded on the floor in response to the public comments; the ethics report was accepted and will be posted publicly as directed by the assembly.
