Anderson said the notice arrived after his department’s report was filed and that the EPA plans a May 14 meeting with federal officials and local representatives to discuss next steps and timelines. He said the grant would be one of the largest sums dedicated to a cleanup project in the state and that field work could begin either in the fall or the following spring depending on scheduling and logistics.
Assembly members thanked Anderson for the update and asked that the department continue to coordinate scheduling, funding milestones and public information. No formal action or vote on the grant was taken at the meeting; Anderson said more details would follow after the May meeting with EPA.
