Trustees noted the "not to exceed" amount reflected a quote and that staff and the superintendent may perform some tasks to reduce billed costs.
Trustees also approved contracting with Astera for satellite leak‑detection services at a cost of $36,000. A staff member described the technology as targeted at subsurface leaks and said it could help locate major leaks to reduce pumping losses and chemical costs; the vendor would combine satellite detection with an on‑the‑ground crew to pinpoint issues.
Board members approved both procurement items on roll call. Staff also warned residents that ComEd plans town‑wide tree trimming on distribution lines within the coming three months and that the village cannot control the contractor or schedule.
