Board adopts ordinance language cleanup for weights and measures registration fees

The Board of Supervisors approved a second reading and adopted an ordinance amending Chapter 5.2 of Title 5 of the Madera County Code pertaining to weights and measures and commercial device registration.
Rusty Lansberger, the county agricultural commissioner and sealer of weights and measures, described the change as a language cleanup. He said the original ordinance (adopted in 2008) listed registration fees in code and the update ties fees to the Business and Professions Code, which authorizes fee collection. Lansberger said his office conducted outreach to affected industry and has received no comments.
The board approved the ordinance by roll call (4–0).
