Board ratifies expenses, approves minutes and sets Jan. 7 meeting; mayor signals membership change

At its Dec. 3 meeting the Lancaster Board of Park Commissioners unanimously approved the November meeting minutes and ratified payment of Parks Department expenses after Superintendent Steve Gayfield presented the Expense/Revenue Report.
The Board confirmed it will meet the first Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. in 2026. Mayor Don McDaniel announced that Council member Kristina Crites will be appointed to replace Mr. Charles Elsea; her first meeting is scheduled for January.
Staff delivered departmental updates (Exhibit C) covering active projects at Bower’s Park, Winterlights and downtown holiday support, programming (Special Olympics basketball, preschool classes) and routine maintenance tasks. Two agenda items — revisions to Public Sites & Open Spaces language and new park financing options — were left tabled for future consideration.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. on the 2nd floor of City Hall.
