Staff concluded the project complies with Laguna Beach Municipal Code development standards and recommended approval with a categorical CEQA exemption.
The applicants said they had met with neighbors, made the roof change and attempted to preserve neighborhood character. A neighbor who spoke in support praised the outreach and collaboration. Board members commended the applicant’s responsiveness to neighbor concerns and the design outcome; the board moved and approved the resolution adopting staff findings and the revised plan by unanimous vote (5–0).
The approval includes the revised roof design as presented and the standard finding of categorical exemption per CEQA.
