Adams County Board handles roads update, utility permits and schedules budget hearing

The Adams County Board of Supervisors on May 4 heard a secondary roads briefing, approved two utility permits, scheduled a public hearing for a budget amendment, received departmental reports on grants and maintenance, and adjourned at 9:45 a.m.

Secondary Roads reported ongoing work including hauling rock, tree removals and easement work for upcoming projects, and said the county signed a consulting agreement with HGM for the Carl 4 replacement; Dixon Construction was reported to be driving pile this week.

The board approved Utility Permits 26-03 and 26-04 submitted by SIRWA after a motion by Supervisor Bobbi Maynes, seconded by Tony Hardisty; the vote was unanimous. The board also voted, on a motion by Leland Shipley seconded by Scott Akin, to set a public hearing at 9:15 a.m. on May 26 for the FY 25/26 budget amendment.

Department heads reported several items: EMA completed ESF work, submitted a first-quarter report for an approved HSEM hazard mitigation grant and is awaiting EMPG 2025 funding; Maintenance drained the boiler for inspection by Jones Mechanical and sowed 50 pounds of grass; IT noted internet connectivity work for the sheriff’s new vehicle and plans to draft an AI policy; the auditor reported ongoing election preparations and budget certification work.

Supervisors also provided committee reports: Maynes on HHS Behavioral Health, Shipley on Main Street and Loss Control, and Hardisty on SCI911. The meeting record shows no public comments; the board adjourned following a motion by Scott Akin and a second by Tony Hardisty.
