Board members focused intense discussion on language in the GBO draft that referenced "breach of contract penalties," with some members urging that the board avoid using the word "penalties" and instead use terms such as "liquidated damages" or "breach of contract remedies." As one board member put it, "The big concern was the word penalties, which could pose problems later," and the board agreed to work with legal counsel and the Blue Valley Education Association on final language.
Separately, the board moved to approve KASB policy indices I and J, with the adoption to take effect July 1, 2026, pending minor edits deemed necessary by legal counsel. During that discussion, board members asked implementation questions about specific policies — for example, the Children's Internet Protection Act language in IIBGA and how AI‑related guidance would be enforced — and administrators said current district practices and device restrictions align with the stated policies.
