Parks department lists spring programming, seasonal hires and maintenance work

During Department Updates Parks staff summarized recent maintenance, staffing and program activity and listed dates for upcoming events. Projects include an Alley Park cabin roof replacement and a signed contract for Bower's Park. Staff reported routine winter maintenance such as snow and ice clearing, removal of fountain lights and repairs to pool and building equipment.
On staffing, Parks reported a new hire for part‑time ball-diamond maintenance who is scheduled to start Feb. 9, that lifeguard summer positions have been posted, and that the cashier position will open March 2. Registrations for soccer, flag football and youth programs have upcoming deadlines in February.
Olivedale staff said the pool will be drained on Feb. 7 for wall repairs and painting and will remain closed the week of Feb. 9; AARP tax help and a dementia seminar are scheduled in February. Outdoor Education listed several events and volunteer opportunities, including the Great Backyard Bird Count on Feb. 15, a stargazing program on Feb. 21 and a Maple Tapping Festival on March 14 for which volunteers are needed.
Staff asked that the Board note the updates; many items are operational and will return for follow-up or scheduling decisions as needed.
