The Board of Trumbull County Commissioners adopted a resolution on May 13 proclaiming May 2026 as Foster Care Month in Trumbull County, Ohio, and formally recognized the work of foster parents and Trumbull County Children's Services.
"We can't do what we do to serve the children in our community without committed families like the Nolans and the Perkins," said Megan, department director of ongoing services at Trumbull County Children's Services, who was present with staff and foster families. The resolution cited that 53 licensed foster families in Trumbull County work with the department to provide homes for approximately 184 children.
Megan introduced Children's Services staff in the audience, including supervisor Janessa Kiefer, recruitment specialist Alicia Ciminero, and resource workers Jared Wert and Shontaya Brown, and thanked foster families and volunteers for their work supporting children through trauma and family reunification efforts.
Commissioners applauded the proclamation and encouraged public awareness and recruitment of additional foster families. The resolution was adopted by voice vote; staff and foster parents were invited to the front of the hearing room for photographs after the resolution was read.
