Lyon County adopts FY2027 road budgets, approves stop sign and bridge easement

Lyon County Engineer Daryl Albertson presented the county’s FY2027 Iowa Department of Transportation budget and a County Five-Year Program (CFYP) on May 12. The Board approved the FY2027 Iowa DOT budget and the CFYP by motion. Albertson also presented Resolution 2026-18, which calls for installation of a stop sign at Dove Avenue and 180th Street; the board approved the resolution.
Assistant to the Engineer Randy Hage brought a Temporary Construction Easement and a right-of-way purchase for the 52W bridge project. The board approved the easement and purchase by motion. These items were recorded in the minutes with motions carried; the full text of the stop-sign resolution is available from the Auditor’s Office or on the county website.
Separately, the board tabled further discussion of a Safety Director position for future meetings. The board’s approvals will allow the county to proceed with planned FY2027 road work and the 52W bridge right-of-way activities, subject to any applicable state or federal approvals required for specific projects.
