Trustees debated whether to grant open authorization or limit approval to the specific contract dates. One trustee sought to amend the motion to approve only the listed dates to avoid blanket authorization for future contracting without board oversight. The board amended the motion to permit Dr. Mario to fulfill the contract for the specified dates (June 1–2, 2026) and added that any future contracting would need separate board approval. Trustees also asked the administration and human resources to monitor that days used for the outside work are appropriately coded as personal leave and do not interfere with district duties.
The motion as amended passed by unanimous voice vote.
