Staff outlined criteria drawn from the Texas Education Agency FAQ that allow the board to award diplomas when individuals demonstrate college, career or military readiness or other qualifying conditions.
Trustees asked how the district would document and publicize the process. Administrators said they would create digital folders, set up a student support services page on the district website, and assemble a committee to verify transcripts and compliance with the state FAQ before awarding any diploma.
A motion to approve establishing the procedures was made, seconded and adopted by voice vote. Trustees emphasized the action is intended to help long‑time former students who meet the state’s criteria to pursue higher education or workforce opportunities.
Board members instructed staff to post the criteria and application process online and to return to the board with documentation and a proposed outreach plan so eligible alumni can apply.
