Public Works Director Shane Stefani told the council the city solicited bids for airport snow‑removal equipment and received one low bid from RDO Equipment Company for $687,356 that includes a John Deere wheel loader with a snowblower, wing plow, snow pusher and a broom attachment. Stefani said the engineer’s estimate was roughly comparable and that federal funding plus a state match would cover most of the purchase; the city’s portion, if approved, would be $17,696.50.
Council asked whether the equipment was new and what would happen to older machines; Stefani said the order was for new equipment and that public works would repurpose the existing airport units and store them undercover. Council also asked about engineering costs to prepare the bid, and staff explained FAA and procurement requirements drove engineering work and specifications.
A motion to award the project to RDO passed on a roll call vote (6–0). Staff said the award follows federal procurement procedures and that the project will be completed after vendor delivery and receipt.
