Board awards $3.96 million renovation contract for Parks & Recreation campus; construction to start June 1

John McGowan, director of Parks & Recreation, walked the board through the project scope: roughly 4,500 square feet of added space, 42 additional parking spots, renovations to two existing buildings, more meeting rooms, expanded break areas, a new staff entrance and improved parking lot flow. McGowan said about 133 employees are based in the buildings and the renovation would shorten staff congestion and permit temporary trailers during construction.
Budget and timeline: the staff packet included a project budget figure and showed the bid tabulation: the base bid ($3,964,877.42), office furniture ($260,703.33), and a project contingency of roughly $524,629 (numbers presented in staff materials). McGowan said construction would begin June 1 with nine months of construction activity and a substantial-completion target of March 2027.
