Lewis County plans rail‑trail master plan for northern corridor, pledges community outreach in Lions Falls

The southern portion, described as a rail‑with‑trail, will be developed in‑house by the department and planning staff after the northern plan begins.
Mahoney said the master plan will set priorities and that development and funding will follow the plan's recommendations; she emphasized that a year will be required for planning and that construction and funding will be subsequent steps.
The county plans community outreach programs in the village of Lions Falls to gather feedback on preferred uses and to ensure residents have input into the master plan. Mahoney cautioned the plan will not be able to accommodate every request and will need to consolidate uses and prioritize projects.
No formal schedule beyond the planning horizon was set at the roundtable; Mahoney said the county will start community engagement as the master plan effort launches.
